All Video Models::No sound at all from my monitor and there is a X where the microphone usually is

It is possible that you have muted the Monitor accidentally.

To release the MUTE option (depending on the model) press the volume UP button / Icon on the Parent Unit 

The X will disappear and the sound icon will show - sound is restored
