We totally understand - baby is super precious! As your pregnancy progressed, we’re sure you searched out lots of information about best practices in baby’s nursery and the best baby items on the market.
One area we often get asked about is the technology used in the Angelcare Movement Sensor Pad, and how this Bluetooth connectivity will affect baby. If this is something that’s crossed your mind, then stick with us...
So, what exactly is going on with Bluetooth?
Well, the Angelcare under the mattress wireless Movement Sensor Pad transmits Bluetooth low energy on the 2.4 GHz frequency over to the Nursery Unit. This low energy uses a really lower power emission standard: to put it into context, it’s about 1000 times less than your regular mobile phone! Do you remember when Bluetooth earpieces became all the range, especially when shopping in your local supermarket nowhere near a car? The idea was to reduce the the radiation we were exposed to when making telephone calls. And to look super busy and cool.
If you’d like to get your geek on with the technical information then we can tell you the Angelcare wireless Movement Sensor Pad uses one of the lowest power output settings of the Low Energy standard. The radiation of Radio Frequency (RF) of all Angelcare devices has been tested and considered to all EU safety standards and directives including SAR (Special Absorption Rate). SAR is a measure at which energy is absorbed by the body when exposed to electromagnetic field. It’s important to know that Angelcare Baby Monitors meet the radiation levels for their specific application: in simple speak, they’re perfectly safe for baby.
So, how does Bluetooth work in an Angelcare Baby Monitor?
Well, to begin with, the Angelcare Movement Sensor Pad transmits via Bluetooth at very short intervals when it’s initially pairing with the Nursery Unit. After the Pad is paired, it performs a series of ‘Bluetooth Handshakes’ with the Nursery Unit at really short intervals purely for data syncing. In some ways you could say the connection is ‘always on’ (unless, of course, the Movement Sensor Pad is in pause function) however, in reality, there are small intervals cleverly designed to continue the data syncing and also to create the alert if there’s need for an alarm.
So, is the Movement Sensor Pad safe for baby from a radiation point of view? Absolutely, and you can rest assured that clever technology is working behind the scenes to always keep track of baby’s movements!
